Art Classes in Lansing

Wharton Center is about connecting people to engaging, creative opportunities that expand their hearts, minds, and world view. With that mission in mind, our virtual art classes here in Lansing provide unique, valuable experiences to keep art at the center of your day.

Classes will be available July 6 through August 14, for a variety of virtual art classes in Lansing taught by Wharton staff and teaching artists. With a one-time $35 registration fee, and classes for all interest levels, you will have the opportunity to learn from and create alongside these professionals, from the comfort of your own home.

Participants will need access to a video device (a laptop, tablet, or phone) and internet service. 

So, what classes are being offered?

Sip & Sing

Ages 21+ on Wednesdays, 7-8pm

Grab your favorite beverage for a virtual cabaret, sharing music and the joy of singing from your home. Learn more & sign up here.

Improv

Adults (18+) on Tuesdays, 7-8pm

Cooped up in the house and looking for a creative, collaborative outlet? This Improv class is a fun way to connect and learn the basic skills of improv. No prior experience is necessary. Learn more & sign up here.

Early Childhood Music Classes

Birth—age six weekly 30-minute music enrichment classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays from 11-11:30am
Provided via closed zoom room (password protected)

Taught from a music learning theory perspective, children and their caregivers will have fun as they learn to sing songs and chants in various tonalities and meters. Learn more & sign up here.

Musical Theatre Dance

Ages 10+ on Thursdays, 11am-12pm

This course gives Broadway fans of all interest and skill levels an opportunity to try out some signature dance styles.  Learn more & sign up here.

Acting

Grades 8-12 on Wednesdays, 11am-12pm

Join instructor Aral Gribble as he leads participants through an exciting course on acting for the camera, while participants create their very own “Zoom” play. Learn more & sign up here.

Introduction to Puppetry

Grades 3-5 on Tuesdays, 1-1:45pm

Students will learn about puppetry and puppet building in this playful online class. Learn more & sign up here.
